WILDWOOD ─ Commissioners met Feb. 8; although the meeting was brief, City Engineer Marc DeBlasio gave an update during his report.
According to DeBlasio, Wildwood’s various capital improvement projects are “progressing on time and on budget.”
The engineering status report noted: “The city was notified that a $12.3-million grant was allocated by NJDEP (Department of Environmental Protection) for ocean outfall removal and storm sewer improvements on Pacific Avenue.”
DeBlasio had attended “a mandatory meeting” Jan. 6 and will submit information “to move the project forward.”
Beach Bike Path
Regarding the proposed bike path along the beach, a presentation was given by Mayor Ernie Troiano and DeBlasio to the Cape May County Open Space Board Jan. 24.
The city is awaiting word on the project. According to the plan, the bike path would stretch from Cresse to Schellenger avenues.
Sharing Services
A shared-service agreement between Wildwood and Ocean City was authorized for “Uniform Construction Code conflict inspection services.” According to the resolution, “a mutually advantageous agreement” will allow each city to provide “professional services to the other on a limited basis.”
Cost wise, the price will be determined by “the level of involvement on a particular project.”
The timetable of this agreement falls under what is “in the best long-term interest of both municipalities, their residents, and taxpayers.”
