SEA ISLE CITY – This municipality’s Business Administrator George Savastano briefed Council members Jan. 8 about the last phases of the construction project to improve and raise Sea Isle Boulevard, linking the island to the mainland.
“We’re anticipating, as of now, the county will begin work next week for about four days to do some final paving of the road surface. The road will remain open during this time and there will be one 24-hour period where the transition work will be ongoing. At that time, traffic will be one alternating lane.
“The county engineer will coordinate all work with our police department. This interim phase is designed to make the driving surface even with the other side and final surfacing will be done in the spring.”
Responding to a council question about placement of a rumble strip, Savastano replied, “There is one there now, and I expect that it will be there in the final road surface.”
