Election Offices Open to Assist Voters Impacted by Sandy

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – As a result of Hurricane Sandy’s impact on Cape May County voters, candidates and poll workers, the County Clerk’s Office and the Board of Elections will be open throughout the weekend to assist voters and to conduct election business. Both offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti and Board of Elections Registrars Michael Kennedy and Doug Dunhour participated in a conference call late on Nov. 1 with state and county election officials regarding the difficulties and disruptions caused by Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. As a result, Executive Order 104 was issued to relax a number of election rules to help voters cast their ballot in this Nov. 6 General Election.
Due to Hurricane Sandy one polling place in Ocean City 1-1 will be relocated from the Ocean City Yacht Club to St. Francis Cabrini Church located at 114 Atlantic Avenue in Ocean City. Ocean City 1-1 voters will be directed to vote at St. Francis Cabrini Church. The other 57 polling locations throughout Cape May County will remain the same. Voters are directed to check their sample ballot for their poll location.
Mail-In Ballot Applicants
The Cape May County Clerk’s Office is processing Mail-In Ballot Applications for applicants who apply in person or who authorize a messenger to appear in person with the voter’s completed, signed application. The final deadline for voters to apply in person for a Mail-In Ballot is Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. Voted Mail-In Ballots must be received at the Board of Elections by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Poll Workers Unable to Work Election Day
Assigned poll workers who will be unable to work Election Day are asked to contact the Board of Elections.
The County Clerk’s Office is located at 7 North Main Street in Cape May Court House, phone 609-465-1013 or send email to coclerk@co.cape-may.nj.us.
The Board of Elections is located at 10-12 Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House, phone 609-465-1050.
