SWAINTON — Easter egg hunts are supposed to take place under blue skies in balmy temperatures. Not so Sat., April 16 when hundreds of tots and their parents and guardians flocked to Cape May County Park for a chance to scramble to colorful plastic eggs.
Chilly winds and a temperature that hovered around 50 meant winter coats for the kiddies and cups of hot coffee for mom and dad.
The Easter Bunny walked among the waiting crowd, getting lots of hugs, giving high fives and posing for photos.
After the hunt was over, and all the eggs had been gathered, the Easter Bunny’s day was not completed. Then it was time to hop on a pickup truck for a ride across the green lawn of the park and into the County Zoo Reptile House, where things were warmer for the waiting youngsters who wanted to get close to the symbol of spring.
