WILDWOOD – Bids have been received for a storm drainage project set to take place along Pacific Avenue, in Wildwood, according to engineer Jim Oris’ report at the Board of Commissioners Dec. 31 meeting.
The low bid was just under $22 million, Oris said.
The project will entail adding a pump system with diesel backup generators, and removing all but one outfall pipes on the beach, according online documents on a trade website and an exchange between Oris and then-Mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr. at the meeting.
A majority of the project will be funded by a $15 million grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Flood Hazard Risk Reduction and Resiliency Grant Program, Oris said.
City officials say that the plan will help mitigate the flooding that has become a recurring problem.
