COURT HOUSE — Middle Township Mayor Tim Donohue received the unanimous support of the Middle Township Republican Committee as the party’s candidate for Middle Township Committee in 2014. The selection process took place at the March 4th meeting of the Middle Township Regular Republican Organization.
Donohue, whose election in 2011 swung the majority on Middle Township Committee to the Republican Party for the first time in several decades, promised to build on the foundation laid for positive change in the last two years.
“It’s hard to believe it has been three years since I first received the GOP endorsement as your candidate in 2011.” Donohue proclaimed. “The pace of change in government can be frustratingly slow. I feel like we are just beginning to build on the hard work we have invested in laying a solid foundation for reform and innovation.”
Donohue said his campaign would be about rising above the petty bickering of party politics and working hard to get things done for the people of Middle Township.
“Voters are sick of the blame game and finger pointing we see in Washington and Trenton,” Donohue said. “We need to stop dividing people and work to find common ground for common sense solutions. That’s what real leadership is all about. I’m willing to work with anyone who shares this vision.”
Donohue said he has kept the promises he made to the voters in 2011 and planned to continue to fight for reduced spending and smarter, right-sized local government.
“We pledged to put the brakes on runaway spending and we have kept that promise.” Donohue said. “After a decade of double digit levy increases, we have kept the levy below the all time high of 2011 for two consecutive years. We are working hard to meet the same goal in 2014.”
Mayor Donohue said the key to positive change was the partnership with Township employees in a realistic plan to curb costs and reward employee’s efforts to build their value to the taxpayers.
“We are blessed to have a great group of employees who love this town and take pride in doing a great job,” Donohue said. “Our key employees understand the mission we are on and share our vision. We have laid out a clear path for them to bring better customer service to our residents, by offering them avenues to grow and improve in their roles as Township employees.”
Donohue said he hoped the voters would endorse a vision that believes in a better Middle Township.
“We have come too far to return to the failed policies of the past,” Donohue said. “We are just beginning to see the hard work of the past few years bear fruit. We are firmly committed to building a future that brings more opportunity and a better quality of life for all of our residents. I would hope that the voters of Middle Township share this commitment and I humbly ask for their support in 2014.”
