PETERSBURG – During public comment at the township committee’s Aug. 22 meeting, a resident probed for more details on the previously-announced charging station.
The resident wanted to know how the station, which the committee was making available to any driver of an electric vehicle, would be metered.
At a prior meeting, residents expressed concern that taxpayers would be left responsible to fund free electricity for anyone who might want to stop and use it.
Committee member Kim Hayes clarified.
“We can’t really call this a charging station since it’s more like just an outlet. And it is under lock and key so that any potential user will have to notify the clerk or another Township official to plug in,” Hayes said.
