DENNISVILLE – Republicans Thomas VanArtsdalen III and Scott Turner were sworn as Dennis Township Committee members to replace Democrats Donald Tozer and Lisa Salimbene.
Both new faces to the municipal government were sworn by Freeholder Vice Director and Sea Isle City Mayor Leonard Desiderio. VanArtsdalen and Turner ran as a team representing the Republican Party.
VanArtsdalen lives in Belleplain and Turner in Ocean View with their families.  Both have children attending local schools.
VanArtsdalen is a union carpenter. Turner is a certified public accountant and former FBI agent. He returned to Cape May County to run his family’s Ocean View campground.
Both new committee members echoed each other by saying they’re ready to get to work, fully support the initiatives of the mayor and expressed a heartfelt thanks to voters, “thank you for your faith in voting for us.”
At the meeting, Mayor Zeth Matalucci was reappointed to that post, and Julie Frye DeRose was named deputy mayor.
Marcus Karavan was reappointed solicitor, Leon Costello auditor, and John “Jack” Gibson engineer.
