DENNISVILLE – Dennis Township held its June 21 meeting. The committee reported that 486 dog licenses were issued to date for 2016, and they have not had any reports of dogs with rabies within the township.
The governing body reminded all township pet owners, since summer is here, to be sure to provide shade and clean drinking water for their pets while they are outside in the heat.
Also, never leave a pet in the car as a quick errand can turn disastrous for an animal in a hot car.
Committeewoman Lisa Salimbene stated that the Senior Center had been very busy and that they are looking forward to a number of events and trips over the summer.
On July 11 at the Senior Center, beginning at noon, a book-signing event is planned for “Images of America: Dennis Township.” Books will be available for purchase and the local authors of the book, Thomas Champion and Ray Rebmann will be available to sign their book.
The event is free, and light refreshments will be served.
On Aug. 24 from noon to 3 p.m., the Senior Center will have its annual barbecue. The menu will consist of assorted salads, homemade baked beans, BBQ chicken breast, burgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, lemonade and iced tea. Attendees are asked to bring a dessert.
The Senior Center would like to remind residents that 2016 membership applications are still being accepted. Being a member entitles each person to attend the many complimentary activities and special occasion luncheons that take place at the center throughout the year.
The Senior Center is located at the Municipal Complex, 571 Petersburg Road, Dennisville. For information about membership, events and trips call 609-861-3137.
Road Project
Starting June 20 the reconstruction and realignment of Academy Road project was to begin. The plan calls for through traffic to be detoured from Academy Road to Fidler Road.
Local traffic only will be permitted on Academy Road, except for the northerly 600 feet which will be closed to accommodate the proposed construction.
