Dennis Road Project Finally Done

By Herald Staff

SOUTH DENNIS — The reconstruction of the Route 47 bridge over Dennis Creek and the Route 47 and Route 83 intersection here is done today, according to New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner Kris Kolluri.
“NJDOT has significantly improved safety and driving conditions for motorists in Dennis Township by replacing the deteriorated Route 47 Bridge and realigning the Route 9/47 intersection,” stated Kolluri in a release.
The $6.7-million project replaced the structurally deficient Route 47 bridge over Dennis Creek with a new structure that features wider shoulders and a wider sidewalk.
NJDOT also improved operation and safety by realigning and installing signals at the Route 47 and Route 83 intersection. In order to minimize inconvenience to motorists, NJDOT maintained two lanes of traffic over the Dennis Creek at all time during construction.
The new bridge was completed and opened to traffic on July 5. NJDOT is scheduled to complete resurfacing on Thursday.
