DENNISVILLE – At its Oct. 23 regular meeting, Dennis Township Business Administrator Patrick Moran explained more about the upcoming “movie night” showing the recently-released “Hotel Transylvania 3.” He sought to dispel rumors. “I wanted to make sure it was understood that the company overseeing the movie night was not being paid by the township, but the township is still paying for the rental of the screen, sound system, popcorn, and drinks.”
In information later provided to the Herald, Moran said, “The cost is about $1,255. I didn’t want to give the false impression that the entire thing was being paid for by an outside source.”
“The movie is meant as a ‘movie in the park’ on a blow-up screen to provide an outside movie experience. Committee thought it would try something different for a family fun night out during the Halloween season. Swank is the company you have to rent copyright movies from for events like this. The Swank rental was $450. The events company is named ‘REC’ Recreation & Event Concierges which was hired to run the event and provided a means for us to rent those items at cost. REC is being paid through an outside funding source.
“Prior to seeing the forecast, we were hoping to see approximately 200 folks. This all may change now due to the weather. We may end up at the primary school so we will make the decision Oct. 25. If that’s the case, the costs will be lower, but the experience will be different. Either way, a fun time for families.”
After Moran provided that input, Dennis Township Clerk Jacqueline Justice said the movie had been moved to the primary school on Hagen Road since inclement weather was forecast.
