Dennis Makes Code Blue Plan

DENNISVILLE – Dennis Township has put in place enhancements to its Code Blue protocol.
A Code Blue alert is declared whenever temperatures drop below the freezing point and weather conditions pose a danger to the homeless population. A Code Blue alert allows authorities to take homeless people to local shelters, or warming centers.
Because the township has few documented homeless persons, they are not required to operate a shelter for Code Blue enforcement. However, the township has a plan in place that, during a Code Blue alert, will allow homeless persons to use the municipal building as a warming center during normal business hours.
When the municipal building closes at the end of the workday, any persons who have sought shelter will be transported by Belleplain Emergency Ambulance Corps to a warming shelter in Middle Township. The municipal building is located at 571 Petersburg Road. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
