DENNISVILLE – Township committee members honored the memory of Rosemarie Essig Oct. 11.
Essig was the director of the township’s senior center, who passed away unexpectedly in June due to complications with preexisting health issues.
Business Administrator Jessica Bishop provided further information about how the committee will remember the service of Essig.
“Out of respect for her family and the members of the senior center, and to give us all time to process such a great loss, we waited a few months to post the position,” Bishop explained.
“Duties are the same but the full-time position will now be part-time; we believe we can still serve the seniors of Dennis township with one or more part-time positions and the center will still be open five days a week. We are in the interview process now,” Bishop continued.
The senior center has since been named in her memory, honoring her 18 years of dedicated service. It will be known as the Rosemarie Essig Senior Center and a plaque will be installed to remember her.
