Dennis Committee Takes Pay Cut; Administrator Given Salary Hike

DENNISVILLE – At its Feb. 13 meeting, Dennis Township Committee unanimously passed a resolution that provided for each of the five members of the governing body to forego $1,500 of their annual compensation to be used towards the salary of newly-hired Business Administrator Patrick Moran. 
Moran, a former Galloway police chief, started in his position in October 2017. At that time, Mayor Zeth Matalucci commented, “This new business administrator position will provide huge benefits to the township. This position will provide for an increase in efficiency and a decrease in liability and will be a benefit to residents.”
“He is doing a lot of the work that we, ourselves, have been doing or would have to do, so this raise is appropriate.
“Pat is doing a good job, and by contributing a portion of our salary there is no impact on the township budget,” explained Matalucci Feb. 13.
During the public comment period, a speaker identified herself as a Dennis resident and a township employee, said, “This raise is unprecedented. There are loads of employees in the township who would love to get this kind of raise. We are doing a good job as well and are not getting any raise.”
