DENNISVILLE—Dennis Township Committee unanimously approved bond ordinance reappropriating more than $190,000 of funds unutilized from three previously approved bonds. The measure amends the current budget, allowing the money to be designated to six improvements.
Almost $100,000 was assigned to “improvements and equipment” for recreation department activities, including resurfacing the outdoor basketball court at the Dennisville Road complex. That particular item had been discussed at a previous committee meeting with Committeemen Al DiCicco and Frank Germanio both commenting about recurring problems with ponding on the court surface after rain.
Other funded improvements include repairs to the parking lot and the recreation center building. Purchases for recreation include computers, a utility vehicle, and last but least, a cooking grill.
The Belleplain Rescue Squad will receive $55,000 from the bond, to be used toward purchasing an ambulance. The municipal building is not overlooked with $21,000 designated for upgrades to heating and cooling, and water heater repairs. Another $10,000 will be used to pay fees associated with planned improvements at the intersection of Academy and Fidler Roads. Finally, a sum of $5,000 was appropriated to purchase automated external defibrillators.
According to Kim Herron, Recreation Department Director, the rec has five AED’s, one each located at the football and soccer fields, concession stand and hockey rink, and at the recreation building.
