DENNISVILLE – Dennis Township Committee met Oct. 20. The first order of business per Mayor John Murphy was to recognize and honor second grader Bradley Bianchino.
Bianchino, 7, received wide local media coverage because, early on Sept. 22, he woke up his mother,  K.C. Battersby, as a raging fire swept through their house on Meadow Creek Drive in Clermont. No one was injured although it was reported the family lost everything.
“The youngster is remarkable and performed amazingly in a crucial, critical and stressful situation,” added Committee member Albert DiCicco, noting as well, “You can never repay your mother for giving you life but in this case Bradley has been able to do that.”
First responders found flames extending into the home and searched for family cats, Jazzy and Bob, which were rescued without injuries.
Roadwork Resolution
On the consent agenda was a resolution for authorization of the execution of a promise of indemnification with the county for the temporary closure of County Route 610 (Petersburg Road) and County Route 638 (Fidler Road) to accommodate the Dennis Township annual Christmas parade. This resolution was passed unanimously without public comment.
Voting District Polls
Township Clerk Jacqueline Justice announced that Dennis voting Districts 4 and 7 will vote at South Seaville Firehouse along with voting District 5.
“The old Rescue Squad building which had served as a polling place for those districts is being sold and that’s the reason for the move,” she explained.
Committee member Lisa Salimbene announced that over 50 recently received a flu shot at the township’s clinic at the Senior Center.
