By Jim McCarty

WILDWOOD CREST – Banning smoking on borough beaches was discussed at the Feb. 21 meeting of Borough Commission. Commissioner David Thompson dislikes smoking, but believes that government sometimes overreaches into the behavior of citizens and would not support banning smoking. Other commissioners and the police representative did not support enforcing such a ban.
The board approved an ordinance to abolish the Environmental Commission, created in 1985. This body will be replaced by a “Green Committee” that has yet to be formed; the borough will seek volunteers for that committee.
