WILDWOOD CREST – According to Mayor Don Cabrera, designated smoking areas for beachgoers will exist at every other street end where trash receptacles are kept. In compliance with Gov. Phil Murphy’s Smoke-Free Air Act, state beaches were included in the legislation as smoke-free. However, designated areas can be provided at the municipality’s discretion. According to the Crest’s ordinance approved April 3, a “limited number of confined permitted smoking areas on back beaches” will preserve and maintain the remainder of the beach area while reducing exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke. Police will patrol the area and enforce the ordinance.
