WILDWOOD CREST ─ The borough introduced a bond ordinance March 6 for improvements.
According to the ordinance, $4.1 million is appropriated, along with authorizing the issuance of $3.9 million in bonds or notes; $205,000 will serve as the “aggregate sum” as down payments for those improvements.
Four major improvements were laid out in the ordinance, explaining the purpose of the bond.
Road improvements at Trenton, Denver, Stockton, and New Jersey avenues comprise an approximate $2.5 million.
According to borough officials, milling, road reconstruction, and drainage improvements (including curbing, equipment, work, and materials) make up the components of the project. Residents brought their concerns to borough commissioners regarding road conditions and drainage issues.
Improvements at borough-owned beaches and bay properties compose another phase of work. Replenishing sand, designs, studies, engineering aspects, and required permits (alongside structures, equipment, and work) will cost an approximate $402,000.
Municipal building and facilities, including the former library, also require the borough’s attention and renovation. Further renovations include Borough Hall, lifeguard building, and Public Works’ pole barn.
According to the ordinance, the “upgrades” involve cameras, security systems and “efficient lighting,” and the work and equipment needed. An approximate cost totals $603,000.
Lastly, the borough is looking to make improvements to recreation and park facilities at Crest Pier and Sunset Park. The borough wishes to “rehabilitate” the pickleball courts and install new signage and trash receptacles. The Crest anticipates an approximate $585,000 for improvements.
Mayor Don Cabrera said March 12, that the bond would assist the borough in pursuing these upgrades and improvements.
