WILDWOOD CREST ─ On March 7, Administrator Constance Mahon confirmed the presence of coyotes. Mahon assures residents that the animals are drawn solely in search of food. Mahon contacted the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, and a spokesperson said the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) only removes coyotes during piping plover nesting season. Mahon gave several tips to avoid attracting coyotes. Such measures include securing trash cans, removing pet waste, and ensuring cats and dogs are secured. Borough officials encourage residents to contact animal control at 1-800-351-1822 if needed.
