AVALON – The results of the municipal elections in Avalon saw long-serving Mayor Martin Pagliughi win reelection uncontested. Barbara Juzaitis and Samuel Wierman took the two open seats on Avalon Borough Council.
In the span of six months, council lost or is losing two long-serving members.
Richard Dean, who retired effective Nov. 30, 2018, had first been elected to council in 1987.
Charles Covington, who will retire at the end of June, joined council for the first time in 1991. In that first election, Covington ran with Pagliughi, who was elected mayor for the first time in 1991.
The retirements of Dean and Covington come as Nancy Hudanich continues her service on council in a seat she was first elected to in 1989.
