County to Hold Info Session on Sea Isle Boulevard Repairs

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE — County Freeholders will hold a public information meeting Tuesday, March 31 from 3 to 6 p.m. to present the proposed JFK Boulevard Improvement Project.
The public session will take place at the Sea Isle City Public Safety Building located at 233 JFK Boulevard, Sea Isle City.
According to a release, the purpose of the public information meeting is to present the progress of the project scoping studies and to garner input from residents, public officials, business owners and community groups. The public will have an opportunity to review the exhibits, ask questions and discuss issues with the county’s consultant, Urban Engineers, Inc. of Cherry Hill, NJ. The consultants will have display boards and renderings depicting the proposed improvements to JFK Boulevard,
The JFK Boulevard Improvement Project is currently in the initial planning phase known as the scoping phase. The goal of the scoping phase is to develop the scope of improvements, secure the necessary environmental documents and to identify the source of funds for the next phase – design. Once funds have been identified and secured, a schedule for implementation of the JFK Improvement Project will be developed.
The project limits are from the Ludlam Thorofare Bridge to Landis Avenue, a distance of about 0.35 mile. The Cape May County Engineer has identified JFK Boulevard for investigation because the pavement is deteriorated, and there are concerns with pedestrian safety, and with the traffic capacity at the JFK Boulevard and Central Avenue intersection. Additionally, the roadway frequently floods and one goal of the project is to raise the elevation of JFK Boulevard to reduce the frequency and duration of flooding during storm events.Comments can be made at the meeting, by mail or via e-mail. For additional information call the County Engineer’s Office at 609-465-1035.
