COURT HOUSE – Cape May County submitted a plan to Gov. Phil Murphy for “the safe, thoughtful and progressive reopening of Cape May County in the time of COVID.”
The letter to the governor calls the plan the result of “a consensus of our governmental and business sectors in consultation with health professionals.” It is the product of the Cape May County-Wide Recovery Initiative, a renaming of the county’s Business Recovery Task Force, formed by the Freeholders April 14.
The plan calls for a gradual reopening over the next several weeks and acknowledges that the traditional Memorial Day opening is “not wise or feasible.”
The letter states that “strict mitigation protocols” will be utilized throughout the reopening phases aimed at a responsible reopening no sooner than June 1.
The plan has been made public to allow county residents, property owners and visitors to see and evaluate the submission to the governor.
