CREST HAVEN – The Cape May County Homeless Trust Fund Advisory Board Application is online.
According to a release, the Advisory Board will make recommendations to freeholders on the best uses for spending the Homeless Trust Fund money.
The Cape May County’s Homeless Trust Fund Advisory Board must include:
– Representatives from each of the three municipalities in the county with the largest populations of homeless people
– Representatives from the organization responsible for developing, implementing, or both, the local plan to end homelessness
– At least three homeless or formerly homeless persons
– Three representatives of local private or nonprofit organizations with experience in assisting the homeless or providing low-income housing.
Letters have been sent to Middle Township, Lower Township, and Wildwood to seek recommendations for board members.
Groups involved in the on-going discussions regarding the homeless population in Cape May County have been notified as well.
“This is the next step to help the residents in Cape May County who are in the most need,” stated Freeholder Jeffrey Pierson, liaison to the Department of Human Services. “This fund brings in around $70,000 a year and will provide another step forward.”

“This money will help our most vulnerable in Cape May County,” stated Freeholder Director Gerald M. Thornton. “We recognize this will not end homelessness, but it will help some of our residents who are in extreme need.”
