COURT HOUSE – May 17: Cape May County reported three new COVID-19 cases today, the smallest increase in new cases since April 26. Two cases were in Upper Township, and the other case was in Middle Township. All cases were community-based and unconnected to long-term care facilities.
Total cases in the county since the first reported case March 18 now stand at 515. Of those, 226 individuals have recovered sufficiently to be removed from quarantine. Fatalities due to the virus remain 40. Active cases are at 247, of which 135 are associated with long-term facilities.
The state reported 1,272 new cases today, along with 107 fatalities since yesterday. Total cases in the state now stand at 146,334 with cumulative fatalities at 10,356.
Hospitals recorded the lowest number of hospitalizations since the state began reporting such data six weeks ago. The number of COVID-19 related hospitalization is 3,411.
