COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor and President of the Cape May County Chiefs of Police Association, Sea Isle City Chief of Police Thomas D’Intino are pleased to announce the award of a training grant through COPS Office in Washington.
This grant will allow for a training program, “Fair and Impartial Policing: A Science-Based Approach” at Cape May Convention Center in the fall of this year. This first course will be a two and a half day ‘Train the Trainer Course’ Oct. 20, 21, and 22. This will allow for the training of not only all active police officers in Cape May County but the ability to train new officers hired in the future.
The second course will be a one and a half day ‘Command Level Course’ where every chief of police and their senior staff will attend Nov. 9 and Nov. 10. The Instructor for the ‘Command Level Course’ will be Chief Noble Wary (ret.) from the Madison (WI) Police Department.
President Thomas D’Intino stated, “I believe we are fortunate to have police departments in Cape May County that practice community policing and have good relationships with their residents, but we always need to look for opportunities to improve ourselves.”
“I am confident this training will do just that and help us better serve our communities,” Prosecutor Taylor stated in a release. “This is a great opportunity to enhance the excellent training all Cape May County officers already receive.”
