Cape May Court House – October is National Physical Therapy month. This year the Cape May County Health Outpatient Physical Therapy Department is celebrating by increasing awareness of the excellent services offered by the department.
The Cape May County Health Department’s Division of Physical Therapy was one of the first facilities to offer outpatient rehabilitation services to the residents of Cape May County since 1977. Our licensed, professional staff has over thirty years of clinical experience in all fields and age groups. Services are offered for orthopedic and sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, back and neck pain, knee and shoulder injuries, arthritis, neurological problems such as CVA or Parkinson’s disease, and geriatric and pediatric rehabilitation needs.
Physical Therapists (PT) and Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA) specialize in the treatment of injuries and diseases that affect the patient’s ability to move and function independently in their environment. Therapists can also provide programs directed at preventing injuries and overuse. They structure exercise programs tailored for the individual. People are living longer than ever before and remaining physically active promotes good health. Improved health enhances the ability for a continued independent life style with participation in recreational and social activities. The benefits of exercise are many, including increased energy and self-esteem, conditioned heart and lungs, improved muscle tone and joint function.
The Outpatient PT Department is located in the Cape May County Health Department at the county complex off Crest Haven Road. Please call 465-1196 or visit our website at www.cmchealth.net. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
