CREST HAVEN – Dirt will mean dollars for a Cherry Hill firm that received a two-year contract for custodial services at county and county library buildings starting Jan. 1, 2014.
By unanimous vote Dec. 10, freeholders awarded to Daycare Cleaning Services the contract for $590,000. It was deemed lowest of three bids submitted Nov. 22.
For county buildings, the firm will receive $182,000 and for library facilities it will get $113,000 in each of the two years.
In other action the board:
• Reappointed Arthur Treon as fire coordinator, and Chris Walters, Ronald McGowen, J. Greg Neill and Jeffrey Pierson as deputy fire coordinators for three-year terms that begin Jan. 1, 2014 and end Dec. 31, 2017.
• Designated Cape Counseling Services, Inc. as Intoxicated Driver Resource Center for 2014. The action was taken since the county is required to provide a 12-hour IDRC center for residents convicted of driving under the influence. Cape Counseling has provided the service since 1984.
• Reappointed Ron Denney of Ocean City, Neil Byrne of Sea Isle City, and Thomas Tower of Marmora to the Cape May County Park Advisory Board. Their appointments will expire Dec. 31, 2017.
• Reappointed as members of the Revolving Fishing Loan Committee to terms that expire Dec. 31, 2016, Gerald Reeves, Henry J. Obergfell, Carl Axelsson, Charles Barto, Eleanor Borchenek, Lisa Calvo and Diane Wieland.
• Authorized acquisition of a 29.96-acre parcel of land at 750 Dias Creek Road, Middle Township for $484,000 as part of the Open Space, Recreation, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund. With closing cost the total was $492,000.
• Authorized the county engineer to apply to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for a grant to update hazardous mitigation planning.
