COURT HOUSE – At a March 23 briefing, state officials announced 935 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total of confirmed cases in New Jersey to 2,844, with 27 fatalities. The number of confirmed cases has grown both because of the spread of the virus and the increase in testing. On March 18, the state had 98 confirmed cases and two deaths.
State data shows two confirmed cases in Cape May County, but the County Department of Health announced a third positive test just prior to the release of the state numbers. The third individual is a 62-year-old female resident who is now self-isolating at home.
The state has now reported confirmed cases in all 21 of the counties. Bergen remains the hardest hit, with 363.
