County Freeholders Act on Resolutions

CREST HAVEN — Freeholders took the following actions at their Dec. 13 meeting:
• Scheduled the annual reorganization meeting for Thur., Jan. 5 at 5 p.m. in the Technical High School’s multi-activity center, 188 Crest Haven Road. Freeholders-elect Wil Morey and Kristine Gabor will take their oaths to begin their first terms on the board.
• Designated Cape Counseling Services, Inc. as its Intoxicated Driver Resource Center for 2012 at no cost to the county. It has provided the service since 1984. Drivers sent there by the courts get 12 hours of instruction.
• Authorized an agreement with Coalition Against Rape and Abuse for 2012 to provide services in the amount of $46,917.
• Authorized Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County to provide free, voluntary primary medical care to those in need for 2012.
• Authorized South Jersey Legal Services, Inc. to provide legal services for indigent persons in the county with civil matters for 2012.
• Authorized C.A.R.A. to provide domestic violence shelter, counseling and education for 2012.
• Authorized a contract with Premier Healthcare Resources, King of Prussia, Pa. for $33,000 to provide an efficiency student of Crest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The other provider who submitted a proposal for the service was Concorde Group, Inc. of Media, Pa.
• Accepted $343,066 from state Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness to “prevent, detect, respond to and recover from threats and acts of terrorism.” It may also partly fund 9-1-1 consolidated service.
• Approved overnight travel per diem rates of reimbursement for county employees on official county business. For breakfast, $7, lunch, $10 and dinner, $23.50. Alcoholic beverages are not reimbursable.
• Supported Lower Township in its bid to have the Bayshore Heritage Byway amended to include Townbank and Ferry roads, and Sunset Beach spurs.
• Authorized a $1,800-contract with Brinkerhoff Environmental Services, Inc. for Phase 1 environmental assessment of 10.978 acres in Lower Township that the county is considering buying under the Open Space Program from estate of Andrew L. Church.
