County Eyes $550G in Homeland Security Funds

By Joe Hart

HAMILTON — Cape May County is in line to receive $550,682 in federal Homeland Security funding to equip and train emergency responders, protect critical facilities against attack and continue domestic preparedness initiatives.
“County and local law enforcement officers and emergency responders represent our first line of defense in preventing – and responding to – possible terrorist incidents, and these statewide grants will be put to good use in protecting families and communities,” Jon S. Corzine said.
In 2006 the county only received $139,314 making this year’s total nearly a 300 percent increase.
