COURT HOUSE – There is something locals already know and tourism professionals and businesses are willing to share—sometimes the best times at the Jersey Cape are when the crowds are gone.
The Cape May County Department of Tourism is using this strategy to formulate its post season campaign with the support of the business community to attract visitors back to the beach while they are enjoying their summer vacation.
So, you really loved your summer vacation in Cape May County and you are seriously thinking about getting away for a weekend and haven’t made plans yet? How about coming back to the beach? This marketing strategy called Boomerang was developed by Director of Tourism Diane Wieland and the staff of the Cape May County Department of Tourism.
The campaign markets fall, holiday and spring getaways to consumers while they are here by using incentives and strategies that the local business community has already devised as the call-to-action to bring them back to the beach.
“The idea is to capture the attention and excitement that visitors feel while they are here in the likelihood of getting them to spend their off-season getaway plans with us,” Wieland explained.
Fall for the Jersey Cape is a website created, managed and advertised by the Department using the URL of the same name, www.fallforthejerseycape.com, to list
special events and incentives offered by the business community, beginning after Labor Day and scheduled through the spring 2017.
The Boomerang Campaign is a two-pronged campaign. Phase one of the marketing effort is targeted to businesses. To get local business buy-in, chambers throughout the County have offered to assist with the information-gathering by sending the information about the free campaign to their members.
“We are turning the post season marketing campaign into a promotion that uses offers, incentives and strategies developed by the Cape May County business community as the message marketed on one dedicated website,” explained Wieland.
The second phase is to market the website, complete with incentives, offers, and events, to visitors via the website and targeted advertisements.
“We will advertise the post season campaign using Internet and print buys to market the campaign’s URL www.fallforthejerseycape.com
