County Bridge Work Begins

COUNTY PRESS RELEASE:
COURT HOUSE — According to a release, work will begin on Monday, October 26, 2009 to repair the bridge decks on the Avalon Boulevard County Road No. 601) Bridge over Ingrams Thorofare in Middle Township. The project, which is expected to take three weeks, consists of removing deteriorated concrete from the bridge deck and replacing with Class A concrete. The work is slated to be performed from 6 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Friday.
Immediately upon completion of Ingrams Thorofare Bridge repairs in mid-November, work will begin on the Roosevelt Boulevard (County Road No. 623) Bridge and will take two (2) to three (3) weeks to complete, weather permitting. The scope of work consists of removing deteriorated concrete from the bridge deck, repairing the structural steel in the main span, and
placing quick-setting patch materials. Daily lane closing times are from 1 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
Traffic control at both bridges will be through the use of flaggers. Construction signs and variable message boards will be installed prior to the start of construction to alert motorists.
The project that has an overall completion date of December 15, 2009, is funded solely by the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Mount Construction Co., Inc., of Berlin, NJ was awarded the $328,165.00 construction contract by the Board of Chosen Freeholders on September 22, 2009. Construction engineering is being provided by Gibson Associates, PA,
Ocean View, NJ.
