WOODBINE – Mayor William Pikolycky is pleased to announce that the County of Cape May has awarded a contract for the drainage project at the intersection of Washington Avenue (County Route 557) and South DeHirsch Boulevard.
Bids were received on Oct. 6.The contract was awarded to F.W. Shawl & Sons, Inc. of Marmora in the amount of $16,400.
Ponding of stormwater in this area will be addressed. A new pipe will be installed, and a manhole will be installed upstream of the ponding area and the existing catch basin will be replaced with a Type E inlet; the two will be connected with reinforced concrete culvert pipe.
The work is scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 25.
The roadway will only be closed during working hours and the work is expected to be completed within a week.
Supervision of the work will be done by the County engineer’s office.
“While this project may cause a slight inconvenience during construction, the end results should go a long way towards abating this long-standing problem and thus add to the safety and well-being of all those who travel these roads,”
added Mayor Pikolycky.
