SEA ISLE CITY – In its last meeting of 2016 Sea Isle City City Council met Dec. 27 and approved on first reading an ordinance that amends the municipality’s general construction ordinances regarding the cost of dune line determination.
Aligned with the ordinance is an adjustment of administrative charges to eliminate the associated 6-percent fee.
Council considered a lengthy list of consent agenda items. Among those approved was a resolution authorizing the creation of a Green Team and related initiatives for the Sustainable New Jersey Program.
Another one extends the stipend program for volunteers of the ambulance corps who meet minimum standards of participation.
Professional Contracts Awarded
Included in the agenda were authorizations for some non-fair and open professional contract awards:
Employee benefits consultant, Mark Senior of Marsh & McLennan Agency for $ 48,000.
Bond counsel McManimon & Scotland.
Hearing Officer Marcus Karavan for $120/hour.
Municipal Prosecutor and substitute municipal prosecutor Thomas Rossi, $ 22,500.
Municipal engineer Andrew Previti of Maser Consulting, $ 85,000
Public defender, Ellen Nicholson-Byrne, $ 4,500;
Another resolution authorized the award of a contract for Dealy Field lighting to Delta Line Construction for $ 233,000.
Holiday Generosity
City administration reported that the municipality’s Holiday Toy & Food Drive supported 18 local families including 39 children through the generosity of many individual donors and organizational donors. They included AARP Chapter 710, Acme Markets, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bellucci, Casa Payroll Services, the Commodore Club, the Sea Isle City Garden Club, Sea Isle Realty, Tax Collectors & Treasurers Association of Cape May County, and the veterans of VFW Post 1963, The Cape May County Police Chiefs Association hosted a Holiday Dash Run / Walk on December 9 which benefitted this year’s drive.
Landis Resurfacing Design to Proceed
Business Administrator George Savastano stated that freeholders had given the green light to County Engineer Dale Foster to advertise for bids for the design of a resurfacing project along Landis Avenue which is a County Road from 69th Street to the Townsend Inlet Bridge. More details will be forthcoming when available.
Keep the Speed Limit on Boulevard Under Construction
Regarding another road project of particular interest and concern to residents and visitors, progress is being made on the Sea Isle Boulevard elevation project. The latest is that a 12-inch gas line is being installed along the entire length of the causeway, and plans are that the north side of the roadway will be paved in January.
All were reminded to ensure keeping the speed limit of 40 mph along the boulevard as work proceeds along this no-shoulder major thoroughfare.
