WILDWOOD — City police received a call Tue., March 27 at approximately 5 p.m. reporting a male brandishing a handgun from a motor vehicle. The report stated the male with the handgun was the front passenger in a small, four door, black-colored vehicle, last seen at Pine and Pacific Avenues.
Upon their investigation, police observed a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle at the intersection of Taylor and Atlantic Avenues. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop.
The driver was identified as Danny Nguyen, 18, of Wildwood. The three passengers in the vehicle were found to be juveniles.
A juvenile positioned in the front passenger seat was found to have the handgun in the front pocket of his trousers. The handgun was seized and identified as a Smith & Wesson Airsoft pellet gun.
All four occupants of the vehicle were transported to Wildwood Police headquarters. During the ensuing investigation, it was discovered the juvenile in the front passenger seat of the vehicle had fired the pellet gun from the moving vehicle toward another group of juveniles standing on a sidewalk, striking one juvenile in the arm. That juvenile was not injured in the incident.
Two juveniles positioned in the rear seats of the vehicle were released to their guardians.
The juvenile positioned in the front seat was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was released to his guardian.
Nguyen was charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia and released on a criminal summons complaint pending a future court appearance.
