WEST WILDWOOD — Getting a duplicate of a tax title certificate is no longer free in the borough. Nor is an additional calculation performed by the Tax Assessor, or a notice of foreclosure.
During a special meeting of the borough’s Board of Commissioners on Wed., Nov. 16, the board adopted Ordinance 510, which allows the borough to charge for tax titles and certificates.
“In the past, people could come in and ask for duplicates,” said Mayor Charles Frederick. “ And they were free. Now we can charge fees.”
The new ordinance calls for a non-refundable $25.00 fee for each notice to the property owner and any person or “entity entitled to notice of foreclosure shall be added to the cost of the tax sale of a particular property.” A non-refundable fee of $100.00 will be charged in advance of the issuance of a duplicate tax title certificate. An additional calculation, performed by the Tax Collector will cost $50.00.
The ordinance was unanimously passed without public comment.
An ordinance raising the borough’s dog licensing fees was presented for its first reading.
The proposed dog registration fee includes $10.00 per dog, plus a registration fee of $1.00 to the State of New Jersey, along with a fifty-cent fee for the license tag of each dog. Non-neutered or non-spayed dogs will cost the owner an additional $3.00 in licensing fees.
Reissuance of a lost dog license will set the owner back $1.50.
“This will bring us into compliance with state statute,” said Frederick.
Frederick and Commissioner Gerry McNamara voted yes.
Commissioner Scott Golden cast the lone nay vote. “You’re raising the price on it,” he said.
A second reading, public hearing and possible adoption of the ordinance are scheduled for the next meeting of the Board of Commissioners.
