WOODBINE — The contract for the Woodbine Municipal Airport Ceilometer (AWOS) & REIL Unit Replacement project was awarded to Global Electric Services, Inc., Frenchtown, NJ, at the April 6 Borough Council meeting.
A grant in the amount of $35,143.03 had been awarded by the New Jersey Transportation Division of Multimodal Services’ Airport Improvement Program for replacement of the ceilometer, which is used for weather monitoring for landing and takeoff, and REIL (Runway End Identifier Lights) Unit, which are used in airport navigation.
The State of New Jersey is committed to providing assistance to New Jersey’s General Aviation Airports, such as Woodbine’s Municipal Airport, for improvements to and preservation of the local aviation transportation network.
“We anticipate the upgrading of this equipment to be completed some time this spring,” added Mayor Pikolycky.
