SEA ISLE CITY – During the March 10 City Council meeting, a resident suggested that the city conduct a comprehensive review of its dispatch system and consider joining the Cape May County Dispatch Center.
The person also questioned whether the city could improve its dispatch system, and perhaps also save money. Other barrier municipalities in Cape May County, including Stone Harbor, Avalon and Wildwood Crest, have joined the countywide dispatch system to improve service, keep up with technology improvements and control costs.
When Wildwood Crest joined the county system last year, it did so with an estimated saving of $90,000 to $150,000 per year, over the first three years.
City council indicated it would consider the suggestion.
