PETERSBURG – At Upper Township Committee’s Dec. 4 meeting, Business Administrator Scott Morgan briefed members on his efforts to explore a new collection pilot arrangement and initiate a compost program that would include regular collection.
Earlier, the committee had passed a resolution to accept the 2018 solid waste collection rules and regulations resident information packet to comply with the township’s general ordinances.
As of now, Upper’s compostable materials collection requirements are that grass clippings, leaves and other yard debris must be placed in the homeowner’s procured paper compost bags or reusable containers.
At the meeting, Morgan suggested that a new program could include that the township provides bins to each family as it does for recyclables and regular trash.
Morgan told the Herald, “I am still working with the committee on the compost container project and will have at a later date the necessary facts and figures regarding this new project. I promise that Herald readers will be the first to know about this program when and if launched.”
