VILLAS — Lower Township officials are waiting on a maintenance plan from the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife to keep the Ponderlodge grounds clean. Meanwhile, students from Special Services stepped up and have been cleaning the park.
Special needs students from Cape May County High School (Cape May County Schools for Special Services) have been collecting trash and recyclables twice a week at the Villas Wildlife Reserve (Ponderlodge).
These students are members of the In School Youth Program at CMCHS and have been participating at various job sites as part of their Work Readiness training. They will continue to perform this duty until the end of July.
As officials wait on the state’s plan, the township manager and council publicly thank these students for their volunteer services.
The program is supervised by Erik Simonsen, who also serves as a Lower Township Councilman.
