TRENTON – The public will have electronic access to civil cases filed in the New Jersey courts beginning Oct. 10.
Through the Judiciary’s web-based portal at njcourts.gov, the public will be able to view the images of documents filed in all civil law, foreclosure and special civil part matters. The link, eCourts Case Jacket Public Access, can be found in “Public/Media” under “Find a Case” and selecting “Civil Case Public Access (eCourts).”
Filings for foreclosure and special civil are available dating back to October 2016 and to 2017 for civil law.
Electronic filing in the civil part began as a pilot program in April 2017 with attorneys filing in the Mercer and Middlesex vicinages. All counties were able to accept electronic filings by the end of that year.
Electronic filing of civil complaints by attorneys was made mandatory beginning Jan. 15, 2018. Since that time, the Administrative Office of the Courts has worked with attorneys to ensure that confidential information is excluded from all filings.
