NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood City Council introduced an ordinance Sept. 17 amending the city’s beach regulations.
Officials seek to prohibit “making, kindling or using a fire, barbeque or portable stove, or burning charcoal” on city beaches from May through September.
According to the amendment, the prohibition “shall not apply to any special event having been approved by mayor and council authorizing the use of gas or charcoal burning grills during said event.”
City Clerk Scott Jett said an individual could take their barbecue to the beach from Oct. 1 to April 30.
