WILDWOOD – The Board of Commissioners met Feb. 25. Board members Peter Byron, Commissioner of Revenue and Finance, Mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr., Commissioner of Public Works, and Anthony Leonetti, Commissioner of Public Safety were all in attendance.
First on the agenda was an alcoholic beverage control (ABC) meeting where minutes were approved from a Jan. 28 ABC Meeting. The only resolution for discussion was the approval of a person-to-person transfer of Wine N Stuff, Inc.
The board quickly went over 12 resolutions, including authorizing amusement game licenses, authorizing additional one year options for lease of Boardwalk for coin-operated binoculars with The Tower Optical Company, Inc., and authorizing the extension of time for closing on the Center City Parking Lot sale.
There were three ordinances, two were in their second reading and one was in its first reading.
The first ordinance amended hours during which business owners are permitted to display merchandise outside of the building line. There will now be certain areas of the boardwalk where sales will be allowed during the off-season for merchandise that did not sell out in the summer. The board passed it on second reading and will move to a public hearing before it is adopted.
The second ordinance established flood damage prevention measures in the city. After a vote, it also passed the second reading, moving onto a hearing before adoption.
The final ordinance sought to exceed the municipal budget appropriation limits and to establish a cap for calendar year 2015. That passed on first reading.
There was no unfinished business. The board tabled the communications section of the agenda, which included the Wildwood Housing Authority and Commissioners Court Redevelopment, to be discussed at another meeting.
Both the New Jersey State Elks Association, Inc., and the Greater Wildwood Lions Club submitted raffle applications. The board approved both applications.
One resident inquired about a rumor he heard about the city providing job opportunities for veterans who are out of work.
Troiano said there would indeed be jobs opening up with beach services that the city will need help with, and the plan is to hire from within Wildwood first.
