NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood City Council announced it will create the positions of deputy financial officer and deputy tax collector, promoting people from within to fill those positions. Mayor Patrick Rosenello said it will create departmental stability.
“I think it’s very important we have succession plans. We have some very good younger employees in both of these departments,” Rosenello said. “It sets up a succession plan in some very important departments in the city. That’s why we’re creating these deputy positions.”
Only those who have obtained the necessary certifications to fill the tax collector or chief financial officer positions would be considered for the new deputy jobs.
Rosenello said the deputy appointments wouldn’t necessarily mean a pay raise, but that employees typically get a raise when they obtain the certifications that would be necessary to fill the new roles.
“It’s important during the regular function of our city, if the CFO or tax collector is on vacation or out sick, to have a fully recognized person behind them as the deputy who can step right in in any situation to pick right up when the lead person can’t be there,” Rosenello said.
