CAPE MAY — The city received nine bids for the demolition of Convention Hall and the Solarium Mon., Oct. 25.
City Manager Bruce MacLeod told the Herald there was a fairly wide range of bids from a low of $109,648 to a high end of $316,400. He said two bids were fairly close at the low end, another came in at $138,000, a grouping of five bids were in the range of $190,000 to $210,000, a bid at $289,000 and the highest at $316,000.
The city projected a demolition cost of about $150,000, said MacLeod.
The demolition is being handled as a separate project from the construction of a new Convention Hall. The city hopes to have demolition completed before the end of this year, he said.
MacLeod said the project is on schedule at this time. The winning demolition contractor will need to obtain a demolition permit from the city.
City Council will award a demolition contract at its Nov. 3 meeting.
