City OKs Budget

By Camille Sailer

SEA ISLE CITY – At its March 27 meeting, Sea Isle City City Council approved its $24.7-million municipal operating budget. As has been emphasized on previous occasions by council members and Mayor Leonard Desiderio, the municipality strives to keep the local tax rate as low as possible and stable in 2018 for property owners. Chief Financial Officer Paula Doll stated that the average property owner with a house assessed at $645,000 would pay $4,481 in total annual property taxes this year. Its strong finances mean the tax rate stays stable. Council President Mary Tighe said, “We have a zero tax rate increase and a zero water and sewer rate increase this year.”
