City against Recreational Marijuana

North Wildwood Logo

By Rachel Rogish

NORTH WILDWOOD – City Council passed a resolution Oct. 16 expressing opposition to state legalization of recreational marijuana. According to City Clerk Scott Jett, if Gov. Phil Murphy is able to pass the legislation, it would be in direct violation of federal law.
In a recent NJ.com article, Murphy stated “People have got to remember: We’re not inventing marijuana.” Murphy also stated, “This (marijuana) exists right now. It’s not regulated. It’s in the hands of the bad guys. Kids are exposed. It’s not taxed. And the inequities, particularly along racial lines, continue.”
