PETERSBURG – Upper Township Committee approved a request by Saint Maximilian Kolbe Parish Nov. 19 for a waiver of the municipal zoning board application fee. The parish has proposed constructing a 10,000-square-foot hall. “We need to acknowledge that not only I, but several committee members and our solicitor are members of this parish. But under the ‘necessity to act’ provision explained by our solicitor, we can consider this request and approve it. We will certainly offer the same consideration and approval to other churches, and this is not a decision just offered to this parish,” explained Mayor Richard Palombo.
