On Wed., Nov.17, at approximately 9:20.p.m., Lower Township Police Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a delivery man from Chen’s Garden Restaurant, which is located in the North Cape May section of Lower Township.
The delivery man advised officers that he had just been robbed of a food order and cash after delivering an order to the 100 block of Nevada Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township.
The delivery man indicated that the restaurant had received a call to deliver Chinese Food to that location.
While walking up to the front porch of the residence, the delivery man stated he was approached by two teenage boys, one approximately 5’5″ tall wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and one approximately 5’9″ tall wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
While the delivery man held out the bag of food one of the subjects suddenly grabbed the bag of food from his hand and approximately $25 in cash from his other hand.
The two subjects then fled the area on foot and the delivery man chased the suspects for approximately one block before calling police.
Subsequent investigation by police led to a home in Lower Township where the stolen food was located in addition to the receipt from Chen’s Garden for the stolen food.
Further investigation led to the arrest of a 17 year old male and a 16 year old male both from Lower Township. The subjects were charged on Juvenile Papers with one count each of theft of moveable of property.
Police determined that the juveniles called the restaurant from a blocked cell phone while giving a fictitious return phone number and had the food delivered to a vacant home.
